Flew into Hakaido today from Tokyo. Tokyo was hot and humid. Here the sea breeze is soft upon my skin. The producers for Hirth's show here took us to dinner and I ate the most fabulous sushi ever. This is a seaport city and the seafood is absolutely fresh. It is a beautiful area, surrounded by the ocean and nature. Tonight was celebration honoring the sea, a national holiday in Japan, and we watched fireworks spread out into the sky like huge flowers, strawberries, and watermelons. Everyone ooed and ahhed, a perfect audience. In spite of the crowds, there was no pushing; people were well-mannered and clapped at the end.

I wish other countries would honor the ocean the way Japan does. We should honor her everyday for she gives us life just like the rains and the winds do. love you lots ruthie......
What an amazing journey, Indira! Thank you so much for sharing your impressions here - I felt like I was there with you! Someday, I hope to visit the beautiful temples you described, especially the one in Kyoto. I love humid air, rain and hope someday to savor the wonderful Japanese breakfast you described - it left my mouth watering! I am sorry your trip is coming to an end but look forward to seeing you soon - I miss you! Love, Lee Ann
